Days of Summer

A couple more weeks and the days of Summer are coming to a close... Kids back in school and a somewhat normal schedule for the Fall season will resume... I can't believe it's about over... I have not posted to the blog since the beginning of Summer, but thought I would share some of the high points...

I turned 43 this year... We had a big party to celebrate another year older... I'm pictured here with my dear friend Sally Jean...I have been having a hard time with that number.. So much has happened this year for me on an emotional level. It really has been the year of personal discovery and growth for me, why not celebrate?
My first trip out to the Atlanta Gift Show this last July... My Sweet Treats Collection by Demdaco...A project that I have been working on for some time now and so amazing to see it come to fruition. This collection is already in the marketplace and has been doing just amazing!
The line is a very whimsical and colorful collection of my signature cupcake and cake images for all things party!!!  I thought I would don the crown for the photograph!

I made frequent trips to the Oregon Coast with my family to relax and and spend time goofing off..
Henry in the surf ( to be 9 again)

Astoria Oregon, where I grew up has changed so much over the last 20 years...There is so much history and heritage in this old fishing town. Its nice to see the ship traffic as a constant daily occurrence on the towns busy waterfront.
In Astoria at the Rusty Cup for coffee of course!

The summer was filled with everything from a class reunion, concerts, camping in the backyard and take-out... I don't like to cook when its hot!  We recently came back from a short trip to the Puget Sound area. We stayed at one of my family's summer cabin that I spent much time at growing up. The cabin is within walking distance to this lake and we had so much fun swimming and boating...

The Puget Sound  in Washington state is such an amazing area... One of the ferry boats on its way out in Bremerton Wa.

As far as art making goes, I always have lofty goals of creating lots of goodies and there are always those deadlines to meet... Business as usual, but have been working on a new batch of art that is almost ready to be posted to the site. Stay tuned and please sign up for the newsletter on the right for all the latest workshops, art and product releases etc. My workshop schedule for 2011 is starting to shape up and I will be posting that soon as well... I'm so glad I took the time this summer to spend with my beautiful family and cherished friends... Those are the things that I hold so near and dear.. Blessings!!

Your line looks amazing (and thanks for not cropping the photo smaller so I could get a little peek at how mine looked. :) )

Happy 43rd birthday! You look so happy- hoping for many more for you to make you as happy as you are now!
I love this piece you have done. The Garden Blooms one... it is so pretty! Love the colors and the sentiment! Can't wait to have something from you hanging in my studio someday! You inspire me! I went out and bought me some beeswax, have yet to use it as I'm a bit intimidated. Wish you'd do a small tutorial on how to get started.
Have a great day!!

Happy BD. Your parents have given you great healthy genes. Speaking from experience, you will be good, I am 55 and feel as great as you do. Tim Holtz brought you to me, so that means we like the same things....smile I will come back and visit. Great projects and love the pics of your creative room. I will be lurking...smile

Hi, Lisa! Love the pics of summer in the Northwest -- they are a reminder of us taking our kids to the coast and Puget Sound (they grow so fast!). Letting go of summer is hard, but knowing you will have some workshops coming up is encouraging me to clean up the "work space" to organize materials and be ready! Hugs and looking forward to seeing you again this fall. Betty :)

Lisa - I loved reading your post...the summer has been so busy with family and summer stuff I've been feeling bummed out that I haven't had much time for creative ventures. I am looking forward to getting back into the "art groove" and your post (as usual) has inspired me!! Have a wonderful end to your summer - Cheers, Loriann

Here's to another 43! I love your site and it has given me lots of inspiration. My art friend and I have embarked on a "tinnie" journey as well as making what we call TownHouses, a jump start from your many houses. Can't wait to see what you come up with next. Your artwork is so inspiring.

Thank you!
Joyce

I just purchased one of your birthday tiaras (@ Von Maur's in Eden Prairie, MN)! Saw it on display and couldn't resist! I went to HS in Portland, and would go into Astoria once a month for Cinema en Espanol... our only venue to watch Spanish movies (bad ones!)... Haven't been back to the area since 1979... Happy belated birthday! :) mercedes

I can't beleive you are 43. I honestly thought you were about 25-30. I love your art work. Is your art mainly done on Canvas? Do you do any art journaling? One last question do you ever teach any classes in the South like Alabama? I wish you the best. Pam
